Chairman’s Message

Dear NAIOP-AZ Members:

I feel both honored and privileged to serve as the 2012 NAIOP-AZ Chairman.  I want to thank the Board of Directors for their show of confidence in me and I look forward to serving the best NAIOP chapter in the country.

I am very proud of what this chapter accomplished during another very difficult year in 2011 and want to point out a few of the highlights:

• Chapter growth of 87 to 620, which is the most members added in the country.
• Pivotal involvement in achieving passage of Arizona’s “Jobs Bill” in the state legislature, which contained our industry’s top three priorities-further commercial property tax assessment ratio reduction, corporate income tax reduction and a deal closing fund. 
• Our chapter increased the level of quality of our four signature events, without increasing prices.
• Our chapter broke even financially in this very challenging environment!
• Our Developing Leaders (“DL’s”) chapter started a very successful mentorship program.

 

As we look forward to our economy and markets improving, here are some of our top priorities for 2012:

• Continue to grow our chapter and provide the highest quality, “must attend” networking events in our industry.
• Continue to be successful in our financial stewardship of the chapter.
• Increase our involvement in the philanthropic arena to give back to the community that we love.
• Look to the future of our industry by continuing to grow our DL chapter and commence a new internship program in conjunction with ASU’s MRED program (more details to come soon).

 

I strongly encourage you to make the most of your NAIOP membership by getting involved.  In addition to attending our signature events such as Best of NAIOP, Night at the Fights, Thursday Night Live, Golf outing and signature speaker series, please consider joining a committee.  Please do not hesitate to contact me or our great staff to inquire about these opportunities. I truly believe that the more that you put into your membership, the more you will get out of it.

In closing, I would be remiss if I did not thank Mike Haenel, our 2011 Chairman, for all his hard work, leadership, good humor and an overall fantastic job!  I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible this year.  Please let me know what you think NAIOP can do to assist you, your company and our industry.
